A Labor Day Request

Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope you’re enjoying your holiday. This is a day I usually pen some philosophical thoughts on working, but today I’d like to ask for your help in my own work.

As I’ve mentioned here, I’m busy writing my latest book. It is an in-depth look at depression, how to survive and how to overcome it. The book will be written from my perspective as a therapist, but also as a person who’s experienced major depression. I’ll talk about depression in general, about all the available medical approaches, and about non-traditional treatments, too.

I’m at the point I would like to include stories of others who’ve walked that path. The stories will be anonymous (unless the person requests otherwise), and identifying details will be changed.

Have you ever experienced any degree of depression? Or do you know someone who has? If so, and if you’d be willing to share your experiences with me, I would be very grateful. This is a project I believe can benefit a great many people (one in four women, and one in eight men, suffers from depression).

Depression varies widely, from minor episodes to the much more extreme instances. I am interested in interviewing people with all types, including Seasonal Affective Disorder (depression during times of low sunlight) and Postpartum Depression. I want to hear from the college student who went through a blue period the first year away from home, the person who’s struggled all his life, and everyone in between.

If you, or someone you know, is willing to help me in creating this resource, please email me at:
Jillian@RebootBliss.com, or message me through Facebook.

I very much appreciate your trust, and I will protect your confidence. And, of course, I’d enjoy your comments, below. Thank you!

  1. I would do anything to help a friend such as you. I have not experienced depression but do know a few others who have. You may consider a loved one’s POV~ at some point, if you do, you can contact me.

I wish you great success in this book which will touch the lives of many!

    xoxo Tam

  2. Jill, I surely want to know when your book is published. I will buy the first copy! I have suffered from depression my entire life in various degrees. I would be happy to contribute if you think I might help.

  3. Thanks, Tam! I have thought a lot about that point-of-view, and including it in the book. Let’s talk about this some more.
